 New Media & Society بعنوان الوسائط الاجتماعية والحركات الاجتماعية:الفيسبوك وحركة العدل الجواتيمالية والتحرك الواقعي "
في مايو من عام 2009، ظهر شريط فيديو للمحامي البارز ذي رودريغو روزنبرغ اتهم فيه الرئيس الغواتيمالي الفارو كولوم بمحاولة قتله. دفعت هذه الاتهامات إنشاء صفحات الفيسبوك تدعو إلى استقالة كولوم، وتحقيق العدالة لروزنبرغ. وعبر استخدام المقابلات وتحليل محتوى التعليقات علي الفيسبوك لمجموعتين من مجموعات الفيسبوك الأكثر نشاطا، وجدت هذه الدراسة أنه تم استخدام موقع شبكة اجتماعية لتعبئة الاحتجاجت الاجتماعية عبر الانترنت ، حيث توصلت الدراسة الي ان تعليقات المستخدمين الاحتجاجية والتحفيزية، بالإضافة إلى استخدام العناصر التفاعلية الأخرى من الفيسبوك، ساعدت في تنظيم احتجاجات حاشدة للمطالبة بتحقيق العدالة ووضع حد للعنف.
